BYD Shark Hybrid Pickup Truck Unveiled with 840 Kilometers Range

BYD has introduced its new vehicle BYD Shark pickup truck in Mexico on May 15. Shark targets the US and Australia markets. The possibility of a launch in China has not been confirmed yet. BYD truck can reach a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour. BYD Shark comes in two variants namely GL and GS. Although the differences between the two models have not been revealed, BYD has kept the prices different. Here we are telling you in detail about BYD Shark.

BYD Shark GL version price 899,980 mexican pesos (approximately Rs 48,42,823) and the BYD Shark GS version is priced at 969,800 Mexican Pesos (approximately Rs 52,18,559). Shark is available in three colors Pallas White, Marmara Black and Atlantis Grey.

BYD Shark power and range

BYD The Shark has a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which has a dual-motor setup. The front motor generates a maximum power of 170kW and 310Nm of torque, while the rear motor generates 150kW of power and 340Nm of torque. Thanks to this combination, the Shark can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5.7 seconds, while the top speed goes up to 160 kilometers per hour. The Shark has a 29.58kWh battery pack that offers a pure electric NEDC range of 100 km. The NEDC range goes up to 840 kilometers in combined petrol-electric mode. BYD also claims a fuel consumption rating of 7.5 liters per 100KM.

The interior of the BYD Shark features a driver-focused layout with a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel, a large 12.8-inch central touchscreen for infotainment and a futuristic 12-inch heads-up display (HUD). Compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provides better smartphone integration. Talking about dimensions, the length of the pickup truck is 5457 mm, width is 1971 mm, height is 1925 mm and wheelbase is 3260 mm.

For better security and visibility, this pickup truck is equipped with 360° panoramic view camera system and 180° chassis camera. This combination provides an enhanced 540° ultra-wide transparent panoramic image, reducing blind spots. BYD Shark is the automaker’s entry into the mid-size pickup truck segment, initially targeting markets outside China.
